Job Description

Are you a skilled Sheet Metal Mechanic with experience in roofing? Are you passionate about working on historic buildings and preserving their architectural integrity? As a Sheet Metal Mechanic, you will be responsible for repairing, fabricating, and installing sheet metal components on our nation's most iconic buildings, including the United States Capitol and the Supreme Court.   1. Repair and maintain sheet metal components on historic buildings, including the United States Capitol and the Supreme Court.
  2. Fabricate new sheet metal pieces to match existing architectural designs and meet project requirements.
  3. Install sheet metal components using proper techniques and tools.
  4. Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other tradespeople to ensure project success and preservation of architectural integrity.
  5. Conduct thorough inspections to identify any defects or damage and develop effective repair plans.
  6. Use precision measuring tools and techniques to ensure accurate fabrication and installation.
  7. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working at heights and with heavy machinery.
  8. Keep detailed records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each project.
  9. Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
  10. Continuously expand knowledge and skills in sheet metal techniques and materials.
  11. Troubleshoot and problem-solve any issues that may arise during projects.
  12. Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure safe and efficient work.
  13. Follow all company policies and procedures.
  14. Provide excellent customer service and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  15. Meet project deadlines and work within designated budgets.
  16. Participate in training and development opportunities to stay up-to-date with industry advancements and best practices.

  • Proficiency In Sheet Metal Fabrication And Installation Techniques: A Qualified Sheet Metal Mechanic (Roofing) At The Architect Of The Capitol Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Sheet Metal Materials, Tools, And Techniques Used In Roofing Projects.

  • Experience With Various Roofing Systems: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience Working With A Variety Of Roofing Systems, Including Metal, Shingle, And Flat Roofs. They Should Be Able To Read And Interpret Blueprints And Specifications For Each Type Of Roofing System.
