You will be responsible for ensuring the health and vitality of our plants, as well as creating and implementing innovative and sustainable landscaping solutions.To be successful in this position, we are seeking candidates with a degree in Horticulture, Botany, or a related field, as well as a minimum of 3 years of experience working with plants in a professional setting.   1. Maintain and care for a diverse range of plants and greenery within the Capitol complex.
  2. Monitor and ensure the health and vitality of all plants, identifying and addressing any issues or concerns.
  3. Develop and implement innovative and sustainable landscaping solutions to enhance the beauty of the historic buildings and grounds.
  4. Collaborate with other members of the team to create and maintain a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing landscape.
  5. Regularly assess and update plant inventory, tracking growth and making recommendations for additions or replacements as needed.
  6. Utilize knowledge of horticulture and botany to choose appropriate plants for different areas and climates.
  7. Maintain a safe and tidy work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and procedures.
  8. Communicate with team members, superiors, and other stakeholders to provide updates on plant health and any maintenance needs.
  9. Keep up-to-date with current trends and developments in the field of horticulture and greenery maintenance.
  10. Educate and inform visitors and staff about the plants and their impact on the environment.
  11. Attend and participate in training and professional development opportunities to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  12. Uphold the mission and values of the Architect of the Capitol, promoting sustainability and responsible stewardship of the complex's plants and greenery.
  13. Assist with other related duties and tasks as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Horticulture, Botany, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Plant Care And Maintenance, Preferably In A Public Garden Or Similar Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Plant Identification, Propagation Techniques, And Pest And Disease Management.

  • Ability To Operate And Maintain Various Horticultural Equipment, Such As Mowers, Trimmers, And Irrigation Systems.

  • Strong Communication And Teamwork Skills, With The Ability To Interact Professionally With Colleagues And Visitors.
