- Perform painting, refinishing, and touch-up work on the interior and exterior surfaces of historic buildings and structures.
- Work with a variety of materials, including wood, metal, and masonry, to achieve desired finishes and maintain the integrity of the original design.
- Identify and repair any damage or deterioration to surfaces, including patching and sanding, to ensure a smooth and flawless finish.
- Follow safety protocols and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, when working with hazardous materials and on high surfaces.
- Collaborate with other team members, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to ensure the highest quality of work and adherence to project specifications.
- Keep detailed records of work completed, materials used, and time spent on each project to maintain accurate documentation and aid in project planning.
- Stay up-to-date on best practices and techniques for historic preservation and restoration to ensure the continued integrity of our nation's iconic structures.
- Assist with the selection and procurement of materials, tools, and equipment necessary for painting and refinishing projects.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage and disposal of materials and tools, to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
- Represent the Architect of the Capitol with professionalism and a commitment to excellence in all interactions with colleagues, clients, and the public.
Experience In Painting And Refinishing Techniques: A Qualified Candidate For This Position Should Have Thorough Knowledge And Experience In Various Painting And Refinishing Techniques, Including Surface Preparation, Color Matching, And Applying Different Types Of Paint And Finishes.
Knowledge Of Safety Procedures And Regulations: As A Painter-Refinisher At The Architect Of The Capitol, It Is Important To Have A Strong Understanding Of Safety Procedures And Regulations To Ensure A Safe Work Environment For Themselves And Others. This Includes Knowledge Of Handling Hazardous Materials, Proper Use Of Personal Protective Equipment, And Knowledge Of Osha Regulations.
Ability To Read And Interpret Blueprints And Specifications: The Architect Of The Capitol Often Works On Historical And Complex Buildings, So It Is Essential For A Painter-Refinisher To Have The Ability To Read And Interpret Blueprints And Specifications.
