- Develop and implement a strategic vision for the maintenance and preservation of the U.S. Capitol Building.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of facilities operations, including maintenance, repairs, and renovations, to ensure the safety, functionality, and preservation of the building.
- Lead and manage a team of facilities professionals, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff, to ensure a high level of performance and productivity.
- Develop and monitor budgets for facilities operations, ensuring responsible use of resources and adherence to financial guidelines.
- Collaborate with government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and codes.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including members of Congress, to provide updates on facility operations and address any concerns or issues.
- Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program to ensure the long-term preservation of the building.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Stay current on industry best practices and new technologies in facilities management and historic preservation and implement them as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for emergency situations and develop and implement emergency protocols to ensure the safety of occupants and the building.
- Collaborate with other departments and teams within the Architect of the Capitol to ensure seamless operations and coordination of projects.
- Communicate regularly with the Executive Director of the Architect of the Capitol and provide updates on facilities operations and any issues or concerns.
- Represent the U.S. Capitol Building in meetings, conferences, and other events related to facilities management and historic preservation.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and efficiencies in facilities operations and implement changes as needed.
- Uphold the values and mission of the Architect of the Capitol and the U.S. Capitol Building, ensuring that all actions and decisions are in line with these principles.
Extensive Knowledge Of Building Operations And Maintenance: The Executive Director Of Facilities Operations Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of All Aspects Of Building Operations And Maintenance, Including Hvac Systems, Electrical And Plumbing Systems, And General Building Upkeep.
Strong Leadership Skills: This Role Requires The Ability To Lead And Manage A Large Team Of Facilities Staff, As Well As Collaborate With Other Departments And Stakeholders. The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Track Record Of Effective Leadership And Decision-Making.
Experience With Budget Management: As The Head Of Facilities Operations, The Executive Director Will Be Responsible For Managing A Significant Budget. Therefore, They Must Have Experience With Budget Planning, Forecasting, And Financial Management.
