Job Description

Welcome to the Architect of the Capitol, where we are dedicated to preserving and enhancing the iconic buildings and grounds of the United States Capitol. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Visitor Services. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead and oversee the Visitor Services department, ensuring exceptional visitor experiences for the millions of people who visit the Capitol each year.   1. Develop and implement strategic plans for the Visitor Services department in alignment with the overall goals and mission of the Architect of the Capitol.
  2. Lead and manage a team of employees, including hiring, training, and performance evaluations, to ensure exceptional customer service and visitor experiences.
  3. Oversee all aspects of visitor services, including visitor information, tours, educational programs, and special events, to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
  4. Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to develop and implement innovative programs and initiatives to enhance visitor experiences and engagement.
  5. Monitor and manage the department's budget and resources to ensure efficient and effective use of funds.
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, such as other government agencies, community organizations, and vendors, to support the department's goals and objectives.
  7. Stay updated on industry best practices and trends to continuously improve and innovate visitor services at the Capitol.
  8. Serve as a representative of the Architect of the Capitol and the Visitor Services department, both internally and externally, to promote and advocate for the department's initiatives and goals.
  9. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to visitor services, including accessibility and safety standards.
  10. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and open communication among staff.
  11. Participate in strategic planning and decision-making processes at the executive level to contribute to the overall success of the organization.
  12. Demonstrate a deep appreciation for the history and significance of the Capitol and a commitment to preserving and enhancing its cultural and architectural heritage.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Leadership Experience: The Deputy Chief Executive Officer For Visitor Services Should Have At Least 10 Years Of Experience In A Leadership Role, Preferably In A Visitor Services Or Hospitality Setting. They Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing A Team And Implementing Strategic Plans.

  • Knowledge Of Visitor Services Operations: This Role Requires A Deep Understanding Of The Operations And Best Practices Of Visitor Services, Including Crowd Control, Ticketing, And Customer Service. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Experience In Managing High-Volume Visitor Traffic And Ensuring A Positive Visitor Experience.

  • Budget Management Skills: The Deputy Chief Executive Officer For Visitor Services Will Be Responsible For Managing The Budget For All Visitor Services Operations At The Architect Of The Capitol. This Requires Strong Financial Management Skills, Including Budget Planning, Forecasting, And Cost Control.

  • Government Experience: The Architect Of The Capitol Is A Government Agency, And The Deputy Chief Executive Officer For Visitor Services Should Have Experience Working In A Government Setting. Knowledge Of Government Regulations, Policies, And Procedures Is Essential For Success In This Role.

  • Communication And Collaboration Abilities: This Role Requires Working Closely With Various Departments Within The Architect Of The Capitol, As Well As External Stakeholders Such As Vendors And Government Officials. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills To Effectively Manage Relationships And Ensure Smooth Operations.
