Job Description

At Amtrak, our Lead Archaeologist is an essential member of the team. Our mission is to serve the public by preserving, protecting, and interpreting archaeological resources for the benefit of all. We are looking for an experienced professional who is passionate about archaeology and is committed to the preservation of America’s historical heritage. The ideal candidate should have a Master's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology or a related field, and at least five years of professional experience in the field. The successful candidate must also possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively with other team members. The Lead Archaeologist will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of archaeological research and interpretation, and be able to develop and implement policies and procedures to protect archaeological resources.
