  1. Assist in the maintenance and repair of Amtrak's fleet of passenger railcars.
  2. Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers by performing thorough inspections and repairs on railcars.
  3. Follow established procedures and safety protocols while working on railcars.
  4. Work collaboratively with a team of Carman professionals to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
  5. Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote efficiency and safety.
  6. Communicate any maintenance or repair needs to superiors in a timely manner.
  7. Utilize hand and power tools to complete assigned tasks.
  8. Adhere to Amtrak's policies and procedures regarding safety, attendance, and punctuality.
  9. Continuously improve skills and knowledge through on-the-job training and development opportunities.
  10. Demonstrate a strong work ethic and positive attitude towards work and colleagues.
  11. Contribute to a positive and productive work environment by fostering teamwork and open communication.

Job Qualifications

  • Knowledge Of Train Equipment: A Carman Helper At Amtrak Must Possess A Basic Understanding Of Train Equipment, Including Brake Systems, Couplers, And Air Compressors.

  • Mechanical Aptitude: This Role Involves Working With Hand Tools, Power Tools, And Heavy Equipment, So Candidates With Prior Mechanical Experience Or Aptitude Are Preferred.
