Utilize expertise in bioinformatics and computational biology to support the discovery and development of precision medicines.
Conduct analyses of large and complex biological datasets to identify molecular pathways and potential drug targets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide bioinformatics and computational biology support for drug discovery and development projects.
Stay updated on the latest developments in bioinformatics and computational biology and apply them to improve drug discovery and development processes.
Design and implement computational tools and workflows to analyze and interpret large-scale genomic and proteomic data.
Communicate results and findings to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines and industry standards in all bioinformatics and computational biology activities.
Mentor and train junior team members in bioinformatics and computational biology techniques and tools.
Participate in strategic planning and decision-making for the Precision Medicine team.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment to drive the development of cutting-edge precision medicines.
Adhere to company policies and procedures, including maintaining accurate and organized records and adhering to timelines.

Job Qualifications

Advanced Degree In Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Or Related Fields: A Sr. Principal Scientist At Amgen Must Possess A Phd Or Equivalent Degree In A Relevant Field, Such As Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Or Precision Medicine. This Demonstrates A Strong Foundation In The Technical Skills And Knowledge Required For This Role.
Extensive Experience In Bioinformatics And Computational Biology: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 8-10 Years Of Experience In Bioinformatics And Computational Biology, With A Focus On Precision Medicine. This Experience Should Include A Strong Track Record Of Successfully Leading And Delivering Projects In This Field.
Strong Knowledge Of Genomics And Next-Generation Sequencing Technologies: The Sr. Principal Scientist Must Have A Deep Understanding Of Genomics, Including Experience With Next-Generation Sequencing Technologies And Data Analysis. This Is Essential For Designing And Executing Experiments And Interpreting Large-Scale Genomic Data.
Demonstrated Leadership Skills: As A Senior Member Of The Team, The Sr. Principal Scientist Must Have Excellent Leadership Skills, Including The Ability To Lead And Mentor A Team Of Scientists And Collaborate Effectively With Cross-Functional Teams. Strong Project Management Skills And The Ability To Prioritize And Delegate Tasks Are Also Important For Success In This Role.
Excellent Communication And Problem-Solving Skills: The Sr. Principal Scientist Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate Complex Scientific Concepts To Both Technical And Non-Technical Audiences. They Should Also Have Strong Problem-Solving Skills And The Ability To Think Creatively And Critically To Develop Innovative Solutions To Scientific Challenges.
