We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Counsel - Biotech Patent Law to join our legal team.In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide strategic and legal counsel for our biotech patent portfolio, supporting the development and commercialization of our novel therapies. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including research and development, marketing, and regulatory, to ensure our intellectual property rights are protected and maximized.To be successful in this position, we are seeking candidates with a Juris Doctorate (JD) and a minimum of 7 years of experience in biotech patent law, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.   1. Provide strategic and legal counsel for Amgen's biotech patent portfolio.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to protect and maximize intellectual property rights.
  3. Support the development and commercialization of novel therapies.
  4. Stay updated on current biotech patent laws and regulations.
  5. Conduct thorough research and analysis of existing patents to inform legal strategy.
  6. Draft and review legal documents related to biotech patents.
  7. Manage patent prosecution and litigation processes.
  8. Work closely with research and development, marketing, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment with patent strategy.
  9. Advise on potential risks and opportunities related to biotech patents.
  10. Communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  11. Provide training and guidance to junior members of the legal team.
  12. Represent Amgen in legal proceedings related to biotech patents.
  13. Collaborate with external legal counsel as needed.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information related to Amgen's intellectual property.
  15. Continuously evaluate and improve biotech patent strategies to support Amgen's mission of improving patients' lives.

Job Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School With A Concentration In Patent Law

  • Minimum Of 8-10 Years Of Experience Practicing Biotech Patent Law At A Top Law Firm Or In-House At A Biotech/Pharmaceutical Company

  • Admitted To Practice Law In At Least One State And Registered To Practice Before The United States Patent And Trademark Office

  • Extensive Knowledge And Experience In Patent Prosecution, Portfolio Management, And Patent Litigation In The Biotech Industry

  • Strong Communication And Negotiation Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With Cross-Functional Teams And Effectively Advise Senior Leadership On Patent Matters.
