Develop and implement legal strategies to protect Amgen's intellectual property rights.
Conduct legal research and analysis to support intellectual property litigation cases.
Draft and file legal documents, including complaints, motions, and briefs.
Represent Amgen in court proceedings and other legal proceedings related to intellectual property litigation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and assess potential intellectual property infringement risks.
Advise and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on intellectual property issues and risks.
Review and analyze third-party patents and trademarks for potential infringement.
Negotiate settlements and licenses related to intellectual property disputes.
Keep up-to-date with changes in intellectual property laws and regulations.
Manage outside counsel and legal budgets related to intellectual property litigation.
Communicate updates and progress of intellectual property litigation cases to senior management.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams, external partners, and regulatory agencies.
Participate in intellectual property due diligence for potential mergers and acquisitions.
Train and educate internal teams on intellectual property laws and regulations.
Contribute to the development and improvement of Amgen's intellectual property policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications

Extensive Experience In Intellectual Property Litigation: The Ideal Candidate For This Role Should Possess A Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience In Handling Complex Intellectual Property Litigation Cases. This Includes Experience In Both Federal And State Courts, As Well As Experience With Patent, Trademark, And Copyright Law.
Strong Legal Background: A Senior Counsel At Amgen Should Have A Strong Academic Background In Law, With A Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School. They Should Also Be Licensed To Practice Law In The State Where The Position Is Located.
Knowledge Of The Pharmaceutical Industry: Amgen Is A Leading Biotechnology Company, So Knowledge Of The Pharmaceutical Industry Is Crucial For This Role. The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Deep Understanding Of The Industry, Including The Latest Trends, Regulations, And Challenges.
Excellent Communication And Negotiation Skills: As A Senior Counsel, This Individual Will Be Responsible For Representing Amgen In High-Stakes Litigation Cases. Therefore, Strong Communication And Negotiation Skills Are Essential For Success In This Role. The Candidate Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate Complex Legal Concepts To Both Legal And Non-Legal Stakeholders.
Leadership And Management Experience: The Senior Counsel Will Be Responsible For Leading A Team Of Attorneys And Legal Professionals. Therefore, Strong Leadership And Management Skills Are Necessary For This Role. The Ideal Candidate Should Have Prior Experience In Managing A Team And Should Be Able To Effectively Delegate Tasks, Provide Guidance, And Foster A Collaborative Work Environment.
