  2. Develop and implement underwriting strategies and guidelines to support business goals and objectives.
  3. Stay updated on market trends and changes in the retail property industry to make informed underwriting decisions.
  4. Evaluate and analyze risk factors to determine appropriate pricing and coverage for clients.
  5. Review and approve underwriting decisions made by team members to ensure adherence to company standards.
  6. Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and other stakeholders to drive business growth.
  7. Train and mentor junior underwriters to develop their skills and knowledge.
  8. Collaborate with other departments, such as claims and sales, to provide comprehensive solutions for clients.
  9. Conduct regular portfolio reviews and make recommendations for improvements or adjustments as needed.
  10. Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  11. Participate in industry events and networking opportunities to represent the company and stay updated on industry developments.
  12. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members to drive individual and team growth.
  13. Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement strategic plans for the retail property business.
  14. Act as a subject matter expert on retail property underwriting and provide guidance and support to team members as needed.
  15. Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and drive innovation within the underwriting department.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Retail Property Underwriting: The Ideal Candidate Should Possess At Least 8-10 Years Of Experience In Underwriting Retail Property Risks, Preferably With A Focus On Middle Market Accounts.

  • Strong Analytical Skills: The Underwriting Lead Should Have A Strong Analytical Mindset With The Ability To Evaluate Complex Risk Factors And Make Sound Underwriting Decisions. They Should Be Able To Analyze Financial Statements, Loss Trends, And Other Relevant Data To Accurately Assess Risk.

  • Knowledge Of Industry Regulations: A Deep Understanding Of Regulatory Requirements Related To The Retail Property Insurance Market Is Essential For This Role. The Candidate Should Have Knowledge Of State-Specific Insurance Laws And Regulations, As Well As Industry Standards And Best Practices.

  • Leadership And Team Management Skills: As A Lead Underwriter, This Role Requires Strong Leadership Skills And The Ability To Manage And Mentor A Team Of Underwriters. The Candidate Should Have Experience In Training, Coaching, And Developing Team Members To Achieve Their Full Potential.
