- Provide quality psychiatric nursing care to patients in a home health and hospice setting.
- Utilize strong clinical skills and knowledge of mental health conditions to assess, diagnose, and develop individualized care plans for patients.
- Administer and monitor medications as prescribed by a physician.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to provide holistic care to patients.
- Conduct patient and family education on mental health conditions, treatment plans, and coping strategies.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
- Advocate for patients and ensure their needs are met in a compassionate and respectful manner.
- Respond to and de-escalate any psychiatric emergencies or crises.
- Continuously evaluate and reassess patient progress and make necessary adjustments to care plans.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
- Stay current on best practices and trends in psychiatric nursing care.
- Adhere to all ethical, legal, and regulatory standards.

Current Rn License: The Candidate Must Have A Valid And Current Registered Nurse (Rn) License To Practice In The State Where The Job Is Located.
Bachelor’s Degree In Nursing: Amedisys Prefers Candidates With A Bachelor Of Science In Nursing (Bsn) Degree, As This Demonstrates A High Level Of Education And Preparation For The Role.
Previous Psychiatric Nursing Experience: The Ideal Candidate Will Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience Working In A Psychiatric Setting, Preferably In A Hospital Or Clinical Setting.
Certification In Psychiatric Nursing: Amedisys Values Candidates Who Have Obtained Specialized Certifications In Psychiatric Nursing, Such As The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing (Rn-Bc) Certification From The American Nurses Credentialing Center (Ancc).
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Psychiatric Rn, The Candidate Must Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills In Order To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Other Members Of The Healthcare Team.
