We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Physician Hospice Medical Director to join our team at Amedisys.   1. Provide leadership and direction to the hospice program, ensuring high-quality care for patients and their families.
  2. Oversee and manage the medical care provided by the hospice team, including coordination with primary care physicians and specialists.
  3. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.
  4. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create individualized care plans for patients.
  5. Educate and mentor staff on best practices and advancements in hospice care.
  6. Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes and make necessary adjustments to treatment plans.
  7. Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities to continuously improve the hospice program.
  8. Provide guidance and support to families and caregivers during end-of-life care.
  9. Serve as a liaison between the hospice program and community healthcare providers.
  10. Stay current on developments in hospice care and incorporate new strategies and treatments into the program.
  11. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
  12. Attend and participate in meetings, trainings, and conferences as required.
  13. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment for all hospice team members.
  14. Adhere to ethical and professional standards in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.

Job Qualifications
  • Medical Degree And Board Certification: The Candidate Must Hold A Medical Degree From An Accredited Institution And Be Board Certified In A Relevant Specialty Such As Hospice And Palliative Medicine, Internal Medicine, Or Family Medicine.

  • Active Medical License: The Candidate Must Hold A Current, Unrestricted Medical License In The State In Which They Will Be Practicing As A Hospice Medical Director.

  • Experience In Hospice Care: A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Clinical Experience In Hospice Care Is Required, With Demonstrated Leadership Skills And Experience In Managing A Team Of Healthcare Professionals.

  • Knowledge Of Hospice Regulations: The Candidate Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Medicare, Medicaid, And Other Insurance Regulations Related To Hospice Care, As Well As State-Specific Regulations.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Leader And Representative Of Amedisys, The Physician Hospice Medical Director Must Possess Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Collaborate With Patients, Families, And Interdisciplinary Teams.
