Histology Technician

Altru Health System is seeking to fill the position of Histology Technician. The ideal candidate for this role will be an organized and detail-oriented professional with extensive knowledge of laboratory practices and procedures. This individual must be able to accurately interpret and follow instructions, have excellent problem-solving skills, and be able to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about providing excellent patient care and has the experience and qualifications necessary to ensure the successful operation of our histology laboratory. The Histology Technician will be responsible for a variety of duties related to the preparation and staining of tissue samples. To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of histology techniques, a commitment to accuracy, and excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform histology techniques such as tissue processing, embedding, sectioning and staining.
2. Maintain accurate records of laboratory procedures and results.
3. Follow safety and infection control protocols.
4. Provide technical advice and support to other laboratory personnel.
5. Ensure that laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
6. Develop and implement new histology protocols.
7. Train and supervise other staff in histology techniques.
8. Communicate results and findings to relevant clinicians and researchers.
9. Monitor and maintain laboratory inventories.
10. Perform quality control tests to ensure accuracy of results.
