Job Description

  1. Inspect and clean all medical instruments, equipment, and supplies, following established infection control protocols and procedures.
  2. Operate and maintain sterilization equipment according to manufacturer's instructions and facility protocols.
  3. Assemble and package sterile instruments and equipment, ensuring proper labeling and organization for efficient use.
  4. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of sterile supplies, reporting any shortages or issues to the appropriate personnel.
  5. Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to ensure timely delivery of sterile supplies for procedures.
  6. Adhere to safety regulations and guidelines at all times, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  7. Keep accurate records of sterilization processes and maintain proper documentation for quality control purposes.
  8. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current on industry standards and best practices.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the cleaning and maintenance of workstations and equipment.
  10. Communicate effectively with team members and superiors, reporting any issues or concerns in a timely manner.
  11. Follow all facility policies and procedures, including those related to patient confidentiality and privacy.
  12. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to identify and implement process improvements for the sterile processing department.
  13. Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings and training sessions as required.
  14. Adhere to all patient safety and infection control standards, reporting any incidents or concerns to appropriate personnel.
  15. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by superiors.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Sterile Processing Technician At Adventhealth Is A High School Diploma Or Its Equivalent.

  • Certification In Sterile Processing: Candidates With A Certification In Sterile Processing, Such As The Certified Registered Central Service Technician (Crcst) Or Certified Sterile Processing And Distribution Technician (Cspdt) Will Be Preferred.

  • Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques And Equipment: A Strong Understanding Of Different Sterilization Techniques, Including Steam, Ethylene Oxide, And Hydrogen Peroxide, As Well As Knowledge Of Related Equipment And Tools, Is Essential For This Role.

  • Attention To Detail And Accuracy: Sterile Processing Technicians Must Have A Keen Eye For Detail And Be Able To Work With Precision To Ensure All Equipment And Instruments Are Properly Sterilized And Maintained.

  • Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: The Healthcare Industry Can Be Fast-Paced And Demanding, Especially In Sterile Processing. The Ideal Candidate Should Be Able To Work Efficiently And Effectively In A High-Pressure, Time-Sensitive Environment.
