AdventHealth is seeking a Sr. Certified Coder for our Acute Inpatient department to join our team full time on the day shift. As a Sr. Certified Coder, you will play a crucial role in accurately coding and classifying medical records for billing and reimbursement purposes.   1. Accurately code and classify medical records for billing and reimbursement purposes.
  2. Utilize in-depth knowledge of coding guidelines and regulations to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  3. Review and analyze medical records to ensure proper documentation and coding.
  4. Communicate with healthcare providers and other staff to clarify coding questions and gather necessary information.
  5. Identify and report any coding or documentation issues to appropriate parties.
  6. Stay up-to-date with changes in coding guidelines and regulations to ensure accurate and timely coding.
  7. Maintain a high level of productivity and accuracy to meet department goals.
  8. Participate in coding audits and provide feedback to improve processes.
  9. Collaborate with other team members to ensure consistency and accuracy in coding practices.
  10. Train and mentor junior coders as needed.
  11. Adhere to all HIPAA and compliance regulations.
  12. Demonstrate a strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex medical records.
  13. Provide exceptional customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and other staff.
  14. Meet department productivity and quality standards.
  15. Complete all necessary documentation and reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  16. Communicate effectively with team members and management to identify and resolve any coding or workflow issues.
  17. Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
  18. Continuously strive for personal and professional growth and development.
  19. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Coding Credentials: A Sr. Certified Coder At Adventhealth Must Hold Current Certifications As A Certified Coding Specialist (Ccs) Or Certified Professional Coder (Cpc). These Credentials Demonstrate Advanced Knowledge And Skills In Coding For Acute Inpatient Settings.

  • Extensive Coding Experience: This Position Requires A Minimum Of 3-5 Years Of Coding Experience In An Acute Inpatient Setting. The Ideal Candidate Will Have A Strong Understanding Of Icd-10-Cm And Icd-10-Pcs Coding Guidelines And The Ability To Accurately Assign Codes For Complex Inpatient Cases.

  • Familiarity With Adventhealth Systems: Adventhealth Is A Large, Multi-State Healthcare System With Specific Coding Protocols And Guidelines. A Sr. Certified Coder Must Have Experience Working Within The Adventhealth System And Be Familiar With Their Coding Processes And Procedures.

  • Strong Analytical Skills: In Addition To Coding Skills, A Sr. Certified Coder Must Possess Strong Analytical And Critical Thinking Skills. They Must Be Able To Review Medical Records And Identify Any Discrepancies Or Missing Information, As Well As Understand The Impact Of Coding Decisions On Reimbursement And Quality Metrics.

  • Ability To Work Full-Time, Day Shift: This Is A Full-Time, 8-Hour Day Shift Position, Requiring The Sr. Certified Coder To Work Mondays To Fridays During Regular Business Hours. The Ideal Candidate Must Be Able To Commit To This Schedule And Have The Flexibility To Work Additional Hours If Needed.
