  1. Perform blood draws and collect other laboratory specimens from patients with accuracy and precision.
  2. Follow proper procedures for patient identification, labeling, and handling of specimens.
  3. Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe and efficient environment.
  4. Utilize various venipuncture techniques to obtain blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
  5. Communicate effectively with patients to ensure their comfort and understanding of the phlebotomy process.
  6. Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control measures to prevent the spread of diseases.
  7. Maintain and update patient records accurately and in a timely manner.
  8. Handle and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing according to established protocols.
  9. Troubleshoot any issues with collection or processing of specimens.
  10. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate delivery of test results.
  11. Stay current with industry developments and best practices in phlebotomy and patient care.
  12. Participate in training and educational opportunities to improve technical and communication skills.
  13. Provide excellent customer service to patients and visitors, addressing any questions or concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  14. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  15. Assist in maintaining inventory and ordering necessary phlebotomy supplies.
  16. Adhere to all AdventHealth policies and procedures.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Job Qualifications
  • Completion Of A Phlebotomy Training Program: A Phlebotomist Job At Adventhealth Requires Candidates To Have Completed A Formal Training Program In Phlebotomy From An Accredited Institution.

  • Certification: Candidates Must Hold A Valid Certification From A Recognized Organization Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or The National Phlebotomy Association (Npa).

  • Experience: Previous Experience In A Clinical Or Hospital Setting Is Preferred. Candidates With Experience In Drawing Blood From Diverse Patient Populations And Handling Different Types Of Specimens Will Have An Advantage.

  • Knowledge Of Safety Protocols: Adventhealth Places A Strong Emphasis On Safety Protocols To Prevent The Spread Of Infections And Ensure The Well-Being Of Patients And Staff. Candidates Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Safety Procedures And Adhere To Them At All Times.

  • Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills: As Phlebotomists Interact Directly With Patients, It Is Crucial For Them To Have Excellent Communication And Customer Service Skills. They Must Be Able To Explain Procedures To Patients, Address Any Concerns, And Make Patients Feel Comfortable During The Blood Draw Process.
