- Greet and welcome patients in a friendly and professional manner
- Explain phlebotomy procedures to patients and answer any questions they may have
- Collect blood samples from patients using proper techniques
- Label and process blood samples accurately and efficiently
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow all safety and infection control protocols
- Communicate effectively with patients, coworkers, and other healthcare professionals
- Keep accurate records of blood samples collected
- Assist with other laboratory tasks as needed
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Attend required trainings and stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures
- Provide excellent customer service to patients and their families
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Demonstrate empathy and compassion towards patients and their families
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times
- Demonstrate a strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
- Manage time effectively to meet daily workload demands
- Continuously strive to improve and enhance phlebotomy skills and techniques
- Represent the hospital and its values in a positive manner at all times.
Certification Or Licensure: A Qualified Phlebotomist At Adventhealth Must Possess A Valid Certification Or License In Phlebotomy From A Recognized Organization, Such As The National Phlebotomy Association (Npa) Or The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp).
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Essential For A Phlebotomist At Adventhealth To Accurately Label And Identify Samples, As Well As Communicate With Medical Staff And Patients.
Experience In Blood Collection: Prior Experience In Blood Collection, Preferably In A Clinical Or Hospital Setting, Is Highly Desirable For A Phlebotomist At Adventhealth. This Includes Proficiency In Venipuncture, Capillary Puncture, And Proper Handling And Processing Of Blood Samples.
Attention To Detail: The Ability To Pay Close Attention To Detail Is Crucial For A Phlebotomist At Adventhealth. They Must Accurately Follow Protocols And Procedures To Ensure The Safety And Well-Being Of Patients, As Well As Maintain Accurate Records And Documentation.
Compassion And Empathy: As A Healthcare Professional, A Phlebotomist At Adventhealth Must Possess Strong Communication Skills And Demonstrate Empathy And Compassion Towards Patients. This Includes The Ability To Put Patients At Ease, Address Their Concerns, And Handle Difficult Situations With Professionalism And Sensitivity.
