- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection according to established protocols and procedures.
- Ensure proper patient identification and labeling of all specimens.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following infection control and safety guidelines.
- Utilize electronic medical records and laboratory information systems to accurately record and track patient information and test results.
- Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare team members, and laboratory staff to provide high-quality care and exceptional customer service.
- Monitor and report any unusual or abnormal test results, taking appropriate action as needed.
- Assist in the maintenance and calibration of equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Follow strict quality control measures to ensure the integrity and accuracy of all specimens and results.
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Continuously seek opportunities for professional development and maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best practices.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide a multidisciplinary team approach to patient care.
- Handle and process specimens in a timely and efficient manner, meeting established turnaround times.
- Educate patients on proper specimen collection procedures and provide clear instructions for any necessary preparations.
- Participate in departmental meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain all required certifications and licensures, staying up-to-date on any changes or renewals.
Certified Phlebotomy Technician: Applicants Should Possess A Valid Certification As A Phlebotomy Technician From A Recognized Accrediting Agency Such As The American Society For Clinical Pathology (Ascp) Or National Healthcareer Association (Nha).
Previous Experience: Candidates Should Have At Least 1-2 Years Of Experience Working As A Phlebotomist In A Clinical Setting, Preferably In A Hospital Or Healthcare Facility.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Essential For A Phlebotomist, As They Need To Be Able To Accurately Label And Document Blood Samples.
