Job Description

As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a positive experience and seamless access to our healthcare services.   1. Greet and welcome patients in a professional and friendly manner.
  2. Ensure accurate and timely registration of patients, including verifying personal and insurance information.
  3. Explain and assist patients with the registration process, including obtaining necessary signatures and providing necessary forms.
  4. Communicate with patients to obtain missing or incomplete information and resolve any registration errors.
  5. Educate patients on insurance coverage and answer any questions or concerns.
  6. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits to determine accurate patient responsibility.
  7. Collect and process patient payments, including co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay balances.
  8. Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate scheduling of appointments.
  9. Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations.
  10. Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to ensure proper authorization and referrals for services.
  11. Handle difficult or upset patients with empathy and professionalism.
  12. Continuously update and maintain patient records and ensure accuracy of information.
  13. Stay updated on insurance and medical terminology, policies, and procedures.
  14. Identify opportunities to improve the patient experience and make recommendations for process improvements.
  15. Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient and effective patient access operations.
  16. Adhere to all AdventHealth policies and procedures.
  17. Attend required training and development programs to maintain and improve job knowledge.
  18. Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
  19. Handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.

Job Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Access Representative Should Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Ged To Demonstrate Basic Education And Communication Skills.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: This Position Requires A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology To Accurately Register And Schedule Patients, As Well As Communicate With Other Healthcare Professionals.

  • Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Candidates With Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital Or Doctor's Office, Will Have An Advantage In Understanding The Unique Dynamics And Processes Of A Healthcare Environment.

  • Excellent Customer Service Skills: Patient Access Representatives Interact With Patients On A Daily Basis, Making It Essential To Have Strong Customer Service Skills. This Includes Being Able To Handle Difficult Situations With Empathy And Professionalism.

  • Proficiency In Computer Systems: This Role Requires The Use Of Various Computer Systems And Software To Input Patient Information, Schedule Appointments, And Verify Insurance Coverage. Proficiency In These Systems Is Crucial For The Success Of A Patient Access Representative.
