- Perform daily tasks in accordance with established safety and infection control protocols to maintain a sterile environment for patient care.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, including autoclaves and instrument washers, ensuring proper functioning and documentation.
- Inspect, assemble, and package surgical instruments and equipment for use in procedures, following manufacturer guidelines and departmental policies.
- Maintain accurate records of all sterilization processes and equipment maintenance, including tracking expiration dates and lot numbers.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments and equipment for surgical procedures.
- Follow established protocols for handling and disposing of contaminated materials and equipment.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate levels of sterile supplies and notify supervisor of any shortages.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring all instruments and equipment are properly stored and labeled.
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay current on industry standards and best practices.
- Comply with all AdventHealth policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, related to sterile processing.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisor.
- Assist with inventory control and ordering of supplies as needed.

Completion Of A Certified Sterile Processing Technician Training Program: Candidates For A Certified Sterile Processing Technician Job At Adventhealth Must Have Successfully Completed An Accredited Training Program In Sterile Processing. This Ensures That They Have A Thorough Understanding Of The Proper Techniques And Procedures For Sterilizing Medical Equipment.
Certification By A Recognized Industry Organization: Adventhealth Requires All Certified Sterile Processing Technicians To Hold A Current Certification From A Recognized Industry Organization, Such As The Certification Board For Sterile Processing And Distribution (Cbspd) Or The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (Iahcsmm).
