  1. Lead and oversee the development and implementation of high performance computing (HPC) strategies and initiatives at 3M.
  2. Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements and trends in HPC to constantly push the boundaries of computing power at 3M.
  3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize HPC needs and requirements for various products and services.
  4. Design and implement efficient and effective HPC solutions that meet the needs of 3M's diverse business units.
  5. Act as a subject matter expert on HPC, providing guidance and support to other team members and departments.
  6. Manage and maintain HPC systems, ensuring optimal performance and uptime.
  7. Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure the security and confidentiality of sensitive data on HPC systems.
  8. Mentor and train team members on HPC technologies and best practices.
  9. Monitor and analyze HPC performance data, identifying and implementing improvements and optimizations.
  10. Collaborate with external partners and vendors to leverage their expertise and resources for HPC projects.
  11. Communicate updates and progress on HPC projects to stakeholders and senior management.
  12. Stay current on industry regulations and compliance standards related to HPC, ensuring 3M's adherence.
  13. Continuously evaluate and recommend new HPC technologies and tools to enhance 3M's computing capabilities.
  14. Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and issues related to HPC projects.
  15. Foster a culture of innovation and excellence in HPC within the organization.

Job Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree In Computer Science Or Related Field: A High Performance Computing Lead At 3M Should Possess A Minimum Of A Master's Degree In Computer Science, With A Focus On High Performance Computing (Hpc). This Qualification Ensures That The Candidate Has A Strong Foundation In The Principles And Techniques Of Hpc.

  • Extensive Experience In Managing Hpc Systems: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 5 Years Of Experience In Managing Hpc Systems In A Large-Scale, Enterprise Environment. This Includes Experience In Designing, Deploying, And Maintaining Hpc Clusters, As Well As Troubleshooting And Optimizing Performance Issues.

  • Expertise In Parallel Programming And Optimization: The High Performance Computing Lead Should Have A Deep Understanding Of Parallel Programming Languages And Techniques, Such As Mpi, Openmp, And Cuda. They Should Also Have Experience In Optimizing Code For Hpc Systems To Achieve Maximum Performance.

  • Knowledge Of Hpc Hardware And Software: A Strong Understanding Of Hpc Hardware, Such As High-Speed Interconnects, Storage Systems, And Processors, Is Essential For This Role. The Candidate Should Also Be Familiar With Hpc Software Tools And Frameworks, Such As Slurm, Pbs, And Hadoop.

  • Strong Project Management Skills: The High Performance Computing Lead Will Be Responsible For Leading And Coordinating Hpc Projects, So They Should Possess Excellent Project Management Skills. This Includes The Ability To Plan And Prioritize Tasks, Manage Resources, And Communicate Effectively With Team Members And Stakeholders.
