- Develop and implement a comprehensive supplier quality strategy that aligns with the overall business goals and objectives of 3M.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of supplier quality, including supplier selection, performance evaluation, and improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish quality standards and specifications for all incoming materials and components.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, communicating expectations and providing feedback on performance.
- Manage the supplier qualification process, including conducting site visits and assessing supplier capabilities.
- Develop and implement supplier performance metrics and regularly report on key performance indicators to senior management.
- Lead supplier development and improvement initiatives, including providing training and support to suppliers to improve their quality management systems.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the supply chain.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices in supplier quality management, and make recommendations for continuous improvement within 3M.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards related to supplier quality.
- Act as a subject matter expert and provide guidance and support to the wider organization on supplier quality matters.
- Mentor and develop a team of supplier quality professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Monitor and manage supplier quality related risks and escalate issues as necessary.
- Represent 3M in supplier quality related meetings and negotiations with suppliers.
Extensive Experience In Supplier Quality Management: The Ideal Candidate For This Position Should Have At Least 10 Years Of Experience In Supplier Quality Management, Preferably In A Global Manufacturing Company. They Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Quality Systems, Processes, And Tools In Order To Effectively Manage And Improve Supplier Performance.
Strong Leadership Skills: As A Director Of Supplier Quality, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Leading A Team Of Quality Professionals And Collaborating With Cross-Functional Teams. Therefore, They Should Possess Strong Leadership Skills, Including The Ability To Motivate And Guide Team Members, Make Tough Decisions, And Drive Positive Change.
In-Depth Knowledge Of Quality Standards And Regulations: 3M Operates In A Highly Regulated Industry, And As Such, The Director Of Supplier Quality Must Have A Thorough Understanding Of Quality Standards And Regulations, Such As Iso 9001 And Fda Regulations. They Should Also Be Familiar With Industry-Specific Standards And Have Experience Conducting Supplier Audits.
Proven Track Record Of Supplier Performance Improvement: The Candidate Should Have A Track Record Of Successfully Improving Supplier Performance In Terms Of Quality, Delivery, And Cost. This Includes Developing And Implementing Effective Supplier Quality Improvement Plans, As Well As Monitoring And Reporting On Supplier Performance Metrics.
Excellent Communication And Relationship-Building Skills: Building Strong Relationships With Suppliers Is Crucial For Ensuring Quality And Timely Delivery Of Materials. The Candidate Should Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Communicate With Suppliers, Negotiate Contracts, And Resolve Any Quality Issues That May Arise.
