Director and Associate IP Counsel

1. Develop and implement 3M's intellectual property strategy in alignment with the company's overall goals and objectives.
2. Oversee and manage the company's patent and trademark portfolios, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications and maintaining trademark registrations.
3. Conduct legal research and analysis to ensure compliance with patent and trademark laws and regulations.
4. Provide counsel and guidance on intellectual property matters to various stakeholders within the company, including research and development teams, business leaders, and external partners.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate potential intellectual property risks.
6. Stay updated on industry trends and changes in intellectual property laws to make recommendations for adjustments to 3M's strategy.
7. Negotiate and draft agreements related to intellectual property, such as licensing and joint development agreements.
8. Manage external counsel and vendors to ensure cost-effective and efficient delivery of legal services.
9. Participate in intellectual property litigation and disputes, including managing outside counsel and providing strategic guidance.
10. Train and educate employees on intellectual property policies, procedures, and best practices.
11. Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, such as government agencies, industry associations, and legal organizations.
12. Represent 3M in intellectual property conferences, seminars, and other industry events.
13. Support the development of intellectual property training and educational programs for internal and external audiences.
14. Provide support and assistance to other members of the legal team as needed.
15. Demonstrate a commitment to ethical and professional conduct in all aspects of the job.
