As a Residential College Dean, you will serve as a mentor, advisor, and advocate for our students, fostering a sense of community and promoting a supportive living and learning environment within our residential colleges.   1. Serve as a mentor and role model for students, providing guidance and support in their academic, personal, and social development.
  2. Act as an academic advisor, assisting students in selecting courses, majors, and career paths.
  3. Create and maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment in the residential college, promoting diversity and cultural awareness.
  4. Develop and implement programming and initiatives that support the intellectual, social, and personal growth of students.
  5. Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other campus resources to provide resources and support for students.
  6. Address and mediate student concerns and conflicts within the residential community.
  7. Serve as a liaison between the residential college and other university departments, advocating for the needs of students.
  8. Supervise and mentor a team of residential college staff, including resident assistants and graduate fellows.
  9. Manage the budget and resources of the residential college, ensuring the needs of students are met.
  10. Participate in university committees and initiatives related to student life and residential education.
  11. Stay informed and up-to-date on current trends and best practices in residential education.
  12. Foster a sense of community and belonging within the residential college, organizing social events and activities.
  13. Develop and maintain relationships with alumni and other external stakeholders to support the residential college and its students.
  14. Participate in recruitment and selection processes for incoming students.
  15. Uphold and enforce university policies and guidelines within the residential college.

Job Qualifications
  • A Terminal Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Education, Student Affairs, Or Higher Education Administration.

  • At Least 5 Years Of Experience In Residential Life, Student Affairs, Or A Related Field, With Demonstrated Leadership And Management Skills.

  • Strong Understanding Of And Commitment To The Mission And Values Of Yale University, Including Promoting Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion In The Residential College Community.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Build And Maintain Relationships With Students, Faculty, And Staff.

  • Experience With Crisis Management And Conflict Resolution, As Well As Knowledge Of Relevant Policies And Procedures Related To Student Conduct And Safety.
