
Digital Preservation Librarian
Yale University seeks a Digital Preservation Librarian who will bring a passion for digital preservation, an in-depth knowledge of digital content management and preservation technologies, and a commitment to customer service to our world-renowned library. The successful candidate will join a team of experts dedicated to preserving and providing access to Yale’s digital collections and will have responsibility for creating and maintaining strategies and policies to ensure that Yale’s digital collections are preserved for future generations.As the Digital Preservation Librarian, you will collaborate with other library teams, academic departments, and other campus partners to develop and maintain policies, processes, and systems for the long-term preservation of digital objects. You will also research new digital preservation tools and technologies, identify best practices and provide direction to colleagues on the application of those tools. The successful candidate will have a master’s degree in Library Science, or a related field, and a minimum of two years of experience managing digital collections. An understanding of records management, metadata standards and digital preservation principles, and experience with digital asset management systems are essential. Knowledge of RDA, EAD, and other related standards, and familiarity with scripting languages (Python, PHP, etc.) are preferred. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment are also required.
