Job Description

The Clinical Documentation Specialist role at Willis-Knighton Health System is an opportunity to join one of the largest healthcare providers in the region and make a difference in the lives of our patients. We are looking for an experienced individual who is passionate about healthcare and has the ability to work effectively with clinicians and other healthcare personnel.The Clinical Documentation Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely documentation of clinical information in the medical record. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and disease processes.The ideal candidate will be an organized professional with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. This individual must also possess a strong knowledge of medical documentation processes and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The following requirements are necessary for this position: • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management or related field• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credential or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential• 5+ years of experience in clinical documentation improvement• Knowledge of ICD-10 coding and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems• Proficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteIf you have the required qualifications and are eager to join our team, we look forward to hearing from you.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of clinical documentation in the medical record

• Utilize medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and disease processes to accurately document patient information

• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of medical documentation processes

• Communicate effectively and collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare personnel

• Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding and EMR systems

• Work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment

• Utilize Microsoft Office Suite to manage documentation

• Participate in ongoing educational activities related to clinical documentation improvement
