  1. Lead and oversee all aspects of the women’s basketball program at Whittier College.
  2. Develop and implement a strategic plan for the team, including setting goals and objectives for the season.
  3. Recruit and retain talented student-athletes who embody the values of teamwork, sportsmanship, and excellence.
  4. Create and maintain a positive and inclusive team culture that promotes personal growth and development.
  5. Design and implement effective practice plans and game strategies to maximize team performance.
  6. Provide individualized coaching and mentorship to players to help them reach their full potential.
  7. Prepare and monitor the team’s budget, and manage resources effectively.
  8. Collaborate with the athletic department staff to ensure compliance with NCAA and conference rules and regulations.
  9. Represent Whittier College and the women’s basketball program at conferences, meetings, and events.
  10. Develop and maintain strong relationships with alumni, donors, and community members to support the program.
  11. Serve as a role model and mentor for student-athletes, promoting academic success and personal development.
  12. Continuously evaluate and improve the program by staying current with industry trends and best practices.
  13. Communicate regularly with players, parents, and staff to ensure effective communication and teamwork.
  14. Foster a positive and collaborative relationship with the coaching staff and other departments within the college.
  15. Participate in fundraising and promotional activities to support the program.
  16. Uphold the values and mission of Whittier College and the athletic department.
  17. Comply with all college policies and procedures.
  18. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Coaching Experience: A Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience Coaching At The Collegiate Level, Preferably In Women’s Basketball. This Should Include A Proven Track Record Of Success, Such As Conference Championships, Postseason Appearances, And Player Development.

  • Strong Leadership Skills: The Ability To Lead And Motivate A Team Of Student-Athletes, Assistant Coaches, And Support Staff. This Includes Creating A Positive Team Culture, Setting Goals, And Implementing Effective Strategies For Success.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of The Game: A Thorough Understanding Of All Aspects Of The Game Of Basketball, Including Offensive And Defensive Strategies, Player Development, And Game Management. This Should Also Include A Strong Understanding Of Ncaa Rules And Regulations.

  • Recruiting Expertise: The Ability To Identify And Recruit Talented Student-Athletes Who Will Thrive Both On The Court And In The Classroom. This Includes Establishing Relationships With High School And Aau Coaches, Evaluating Talent, And Successfully Closing On Top Recruits.

  • Commitment To Academic Success: A Dedication To Promoting Academic Success Among Student-Athletes, Ensuring They Meet Eligibility Requirements And Providing Academic Support When Needed. This Includes Working Closely With The Academic Support Staff And Monitoring The Academic Progress Of The Team.
