Job Description

Whittier College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Assistant. In this role, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with various departments and student organizations to support our ongoing efforts towards creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for all members of our community. We are looking for someone who is committed to social justice and has a strong understanding of diversity and inclusion principles.   1. Collaborate with various departments and student organizations to develop and implement diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and programs.
  2. Assist in creating and maintaining a welcoming and inclusive campus environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
  3. Serve as a resource for community members seeking information and support on diversity and inclusion topics.
  4. Conduct research and analyze data to identify areas for improvement in diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
  5. Plan and facilitate workshops, trainings, and events related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  6. Develop and maintain relationships with external organizations and resources to enhance diversity and inclusion efforts on campus.
  7. Support and mentor students from underrepresented backgrounds to promote their success and well-being.
  8. Collaborate with campus partners to ensure that diversity and inclusion are integrated into all aspects of campus life.
  9. Stay up-to-date on current trends and best practices in diversity and inclusion in higher education.
  10. Communicate regularly with campus leadership to provide updates on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives and progress.
  11. Create and distribute educational materials and resources to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion topics.
  12. Participate in the recruitment and retention of diverse staff and faculty members.
  13. Serve as a liaison between campus community members and the DEI office.
  14. Advocate for marginalized and underrepresented groups on campus and promote a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  15. Continuously evaluate and assess the effectiveness of diversity and inclusion efforts and make recommendations for improvement.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree In Human Resources, Diversity & Inclusion, Or A Related Field.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In A Diversity, Equity, And Inclusion Role.

  • Knowledge And Understanding Of Current Dei Issues And Best Practices.

  • Excellent Communication And Facilitation Skills.
