Job Description

Welcome to Whittier College, where we strive to provide our student-athletes with a well-rounded and competitive athletic experience. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Director of MW Cross Country and Track & Field Coach to lead our programs to success. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in coaching and a deep understanding of the sport, as well as a commitment to developing our student-athletes both on and off the field.   1. Develop and implement strategic plans for the MW Cross Country and Track & Field programs to ensure success and competitiveness in conference and national competitions.
  2. Recruit, train, and retain high-performing student-athletes for the programs, including conducting tryouts, evaluating talent, and offering scholarships as needed.
  3. Create and maintain a positive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic excellence.
  4. Design and oversee practice schedules, training programs, and competition schedules for both the Cross Country and Track & Field teams.
  5. Monitor and track the academic progress of student-athletes, providing support and resources as needed to ensure their success both on and off the field.
  6. Provide guidance and mentorship to student-athletes, assisting with personal and athletic development, and promoting a healthy work-life balance.
  7. Collaborate with athletic department staff, including sports medicine, academic support, and compliance, to ensure the well-being and compliance of student-athletes.
  8. Manage and oversee the budget for the Cross Country and Track & Field programs, including travel, equipment, and other necessary expenses.
  9. Represent Whittier College and the athletic department at conferences, meetings, and other events related to the Cross Country and Track & Field programs.
  10. Continuously monitor and evaluate the performance of the programs and make necessary adjustments to ensure their success and alignment with the college's mission and values.

  • Extensive Coaching Experience In Cross Country And Track & Field At The Collegiate Level.

  • Proven Success In Developing And Leading Competitive Teams In Both Sports.

  • Strong Understanding Of Ncaa Rules And Regulations, As Well As Compliance Procedures.

  • Excellent Communication And Leadership Skills, With The Ability To Mentor And Motivate Student-Athletes.

  • Ability To Recruit And Retain Top Talent, As Well As Cultivate Relationships With High School Coaches And Club Programs.
