As the Employment Counsel, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with employment laws and regulations, while providing strategic legal advice and support to our human resources team.   1. Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations: The Employment Counsel will be responsible for staying up-to-date on all relevant employment laws and regulations in order to ensure Western Union's compliance with them.
  2. Provide strategic legal advice: This role requires providing strategic legal advice to the human resources team at Western Union, taking into account the company's goals and objectives.
  3. Advise on complex employment issues: The Employment Counsel will be responsible for providing guidance and advice on a variety of complex employment issues, including but not limited to discrimination, harassment, and employee contracts.
  4. Review and negotiate employment contracts: This role involves reviewing and negotiating employment contracts to ensure they are in compliance with employment laws and regulations, as well as protecting the company's interests.

  9. Stay informed of industry trends: It is important for the Employment Counsel to stay informed of industry trends and developments in employment law to ensure Western Union remains compliant and competitive.
  10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams: The Employment Counsel will work closely with cross-functional teams, such as finance, compliance, and legal, to ensure a cohesive approach to employment law compliance and risk management.

Job Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor (J.d.) Degree From An Accredited Law School

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In Employment Law, Preferably In A Corporate Setting

  • Strong Knowledge Of Federal And State Employment Laws And Regulations

  • Experience In Providing Legal Counsel And Advice To Hr Departments And Management

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Handle Sensitive And Confidential Information
