Job Description

As a Switchboard Operator at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service and communication support to our patients, visitors, and staff.   1. Answer incoming calls and direct them to the appropriate department or individual within the hospital.
  2. Greet and assist visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  3. Provide information and directions to patients, visitors, and staff.
  4. Maintain a clean and organized switchboard area.
  5. Monitor and respond to emergency calls and alarms, following established protocol.
  6. Keep accurate records of all incoming and outgoing calls.
  7. Assist with patient and visitor inquiries, including appointment scheduling and general hospital information.
  8. Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient communication and coordination.
  9. Uphold patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
  10. Troubleshoot any technical issues with the switchboard equipment.
  11. Remain knowledgeable about hospital services, policies, and procedures.
  12. Handle any complaints or concerns with patience and professionalism.
  13. Provide exceptional customer service to all individuals contacting the hospital.
  14. Assist with administrative tasks as needed.
  15. Attend training and meetings to stay updated on hospital protocols and procedures.
