- Answer and direct all incoming calls to the appropriate departments and personnel.
- Greet and provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere for all callers and visitors.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times while interacting with callers and visitors.
- Utilize hospital phone and paging systems to ensure prompt and accurate communication.
- Prioritize and handle multiple incoming calls simultaneously, while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Understand and adhere to all hospital policies and procedures related to phone and paging systems.
- Keep track of employee locations and availability for efficient call transfer.
- Monitor and respond to emergency and urgent calls according to hospital protocols.
- Keep accurate records of call logs, messages, and other relevant information.
- Continuously update and maintain the hospital's phone directory to ensure accurate and timely information.
- Troubleshoot any technical issues with the phone and paging systems and promptly report any malfunctions.
- Collaborate with other hospital departments and personnel to ensure smooth and efficient call flow.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in a professional and appropriate manner.
- Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For A Switchboard Operator At Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Ensures That The Candidate Has A Basic Level Of Education And Communication Skills.
