Job Description

Wentworth-Douglass Hospital is seeking a skilled Sterile Processing Technician II to join our team and play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of patient care. As a Sterile Processing Technician II, you will be responsible for decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, and sterilizing medical equipment and instruments used in surgical procedures.   1. Perform decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilization of medical equipment and instruments used in surgical procedures.
  2. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all processed items, including tracking expiration dates and lot numbers.
  3. Adhere to strict infection control and safety protocols to prevent the spread of infections and maintain a safe work environment.
  4. Collaborate with surgical staff to ensure that all necessary equipment and instruments are properly processed and available for procedures.
  5. Ensure that all equipment and instruments are functioning properly and report any malfunctions or damage to the appropriate personnel.
  6. Monitor and maintain inventory levels of supplies and equipment needed for sterile processing.
  7. Follow established procedures and protocols for the handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  8. Train and mentor new Sterile Processing Technicians on proper techniques and procedures.
  9. Communicate effectively with team members, surgical staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure efficient and timely delivery of sterile equipment.
  10. Stay up-to-date on industry standards and best practices for sterile processing and implement any necessary changes to improve efficiency and safety.
  11. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures and regulatory requirements for sterile processing.
  12. Maintain a clean and organized work area and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
  13. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and assist with audits and inspections.
  14. Attend ongoing training and education programs to stay current on advancements and changes in sterile processing techniques and equipment.
  15. Uphold the hospital's mission and values by providing high-quality, safe, and efficient service to support the delivery of patient care.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (Crcst) Certification From The International Association Of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (Iahcsmm).

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Experience As A Sterile Processing Technician In A Hospital Setting.

  • Knowledge Of Sterilization Techniques, Infection Control Procedures, And Medical Terminology.

  • Ability To Operate And Troubleshoot Various Types Of Sterilization Equipment, Such As Autoclaves And Ethylene Oxide Gas Sterilizers.

  • Strong Attention To Detail And Organizational Skills, With The Ability To Accurately Document And Maintain Records Of Sterilization Processes.
