  1. Provide direct patient care: The primary responsibility of a PCA/CNA in the Organ Transplant Unit is to provide direct patient care to individuals undergoing organ transplants. This includes assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and providing emotional support to patients and their families.
  2. Maintain patient safety and comfort: PCAs/CNAs are responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of patients at all times. This includes monitoring patient conditions, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate medical staff, and responding to patient needs in a timely and compassionate manner.
  3. Collaborate with medical team: As a member of the healthcare team, the PCA/CNA will work closely with nurses, doctors, and other medical professionals to provide coordinated and effective care to patients. This may involve assisting with procedures, collecting and recording patient data, and communicating important information to the medical team.
  4. Ensure cleanliness and infection control: In order to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, PCAs/CNAs are responsible for keeping patient rooms and common areas clean and free from potential sources of infection. This may include disinfecting equipment, changing linens, and following proper hand hygiene protocols.
  5. Provide emotional support: Undergoing an organ transplant can be a physically and emotionally challenging experience for patients. PCAs/CNAs play a crucial role in providing emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during this difficult time.
  6. Maintain documentation: Accurate and timely documentation is an essential responsibility of a PCA/CNA. This may include recording patient information, updating medical charts, and completing other necessary paperwork.
  7. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures: PCAs/CNAs must follow all hospital policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of patients and staff. This may include following infection control protocols, maintaining patient confidentiality, and adhering to professional standards of conduct.

Job Qualifications
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Or Personal Care Assistant (Pca) Certification: Candidates Should Possess A Valid Cna Or Pca Certification From An Accredited Program.

  • Experience In An Organ Transplant Unit: Previous Experience Working In An Organ Transplant Unit Is Preferred. Candidates Should Have A Strong Understanding Of The Unique Needs And Challenges Of Caring For Transplant Patients.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: The Ability To Effectively Communicate With Patients, Families, And Healthcare Team Members Is Essential In This Role. Candidates Should Also Possess Strong Interpersonal Skills And Be Able To Work Collaboratively With A Diverse Team.

  • Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: As A Healthcare Professional, Candidates Should Have A Current Bls Certification. This Ensures They Have The Knowledge And Skills Necessary To Respond To Emergency Situations.

  • Flexibility And Availability For Per Diem Shifts: Per Diem Positions Require A High Level Of Flexibility And Availability To Cover Shifts As Needed. Candidates Should Be Willing And Able To Work A Variety Of Shifts, Including Nights, Weekends, And Holidays.
