- Provide direct patient care to pediatric patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team.
- Assist with daily activities such as bathing, feeding, and ambulating patients.
- Collaborate with the nursing team and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and their families.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Administer medications and treatments as directed by the nursing team.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
- Respond to patient and family needs and concerns in a compassionate and professional manner.
- Participate in educational opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and safety protocols.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and families during difficult times.
- Assist with the transport of patients to and from procedures and tests.
- Continuously monitor patients for changes in condition and report to the nursing team.
- Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy at all times.
- Actively participate in unit and hospital initiatives and quality improvement projects.
- Attend and actively contribute to team meetings and huddles.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
- Adhere to all hospital and unit policies and procedures.
Certification Or Degree In A Healthcare-Related Field: A Patient Care Assistant In The Pediatric Icu At Mgh Must Have Completed A Certification Program Or Hold A Degree In A Healthcare Field Such As Nursing, Medical Assisting, Or Respiratory Therapy.
Previous Experience In A Pediatric Or Critical Care Setting: Candidates For This Position Should Have Prior Experience Working With Pediatric Patients In A Hospital Setting, Preferably In A Critical Care Unit. This Experience Demonstrates A Familiarity With The Unique Needs And Challenges Of Caring For Critically Ill Children.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Patient Care Assistant, You Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Their Families, And A Team Of Healthcare Professionals. It Is Essential To Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Collaborate And Provide Compassionate Care.
Ability To Multitask And Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: The Pediatric Icu At Mgh Is A Fast-Paced And Often High-Stress Environment. Candidates For This Position Should Be Able To Handle Multiple Tasks And Prioritize Effectively, While Remaining Calm Under Pressure.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Basic Patient Care Procedures: A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Basic Patient Care Procedures Is Essential For A Patient Care Assistant In The Pediatric Icu.
