  1. Provide direct patient care to pediatric patients in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
  2. Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team.
  3. Assist with daily activities such as bathing, feeding, and ambulating patients.
  4. Collaborate with the nursing team and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  5. Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and their families.
  6. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  7. Administer medications and treatments as directed by the nursing team.
  8. Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
  9. Respond to patient and family needs and concerns in a compassionate and professional manner.
  10. Participate in educational opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
  11. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and safety protocols.
  12. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and families during difficult times.
  13. Assist with the transport of patients to and from procedures and tests.
  14. Continuously monitor patients for changes in condition and report to the nursing team.
  15. Collaborate with other departments and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for patients.
  16. Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy at all times.
  17. Actively participate in unit and hospital initiatives and quality improvement projects.
  18. Attend and actively contribute to team meetings and huddles.
  19. Maintain a positive and professional attitude at all times.
  20. Adhere to all hospital and unit policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification Or Degree In A Healthcare-Related Field: A Patient Care Assistant In The Pediatric Icu At Mgh Must Have Completed A Certification Program Or Hold A Degree In A Healthcare Field Such As Nursing, Medical Assisting, Or Respiratory Therapy.

  • Previous Experience In A Pediatric Or Critical Care Setting: Candidates For This Position Should Have Prior Experience Working With Pediatric Patients In A Hospital Setting, Preferably In A Critical Care Unit. This Experience Demonstrates A Familiarity With The Unique Needs And Challenges Of Caring For Critically Ill Children.

  • Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Patient Care Assistant, You Will Be Working Closely With Patients, Their Families, And A Team Of Healthcare Professionals. It Is Essential To Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills To Effectively Collaborate And Provide Compassionate Care.

  • Ability To Multitask And Work In A Fast-Paced Environment: The Pediatric Icu At Mgh Is A Fast-Paced And Often High-Stress Environment. Candidates For This Position Should Be Able To Handle Multiple Tasks And Prioritize Effectively, While Remaining Calm Under Pressure.

  • Knowledge Of Medical Terminology And Basic Patient Care Procedures: A Strong Understanding Of Medical Terminology And Basic Patient Care Procedures Is Essential For A Patient Care Assistant In The Pediatric Icu. This Knowledge Will Enable You To Assist With Procedures, Administer Medications, And Accurately Document Patient Care.
