
Patient Care Assistant |MGH -Emergency Department | 36 hour Nights

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Patient Care Assistant to join our team at the MGH Emergency Department. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the well-being of our patients by providing direct care and support. - Provide direct care to patients in a compassionate and skilled manner.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for patients.
- Monitor and report changes in patients' conditions to the nursing staff.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, and feeding.
- Transport patients to and from various procedures and appointments.
- Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
- Observe and document patients' vital signs and other important information.
- Administer medications as directed by the nursing staff.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and common areas.
- Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including infection control and safety regulations.
- Attend training sessions and educational programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Act as a positive ambassador for the hospital and uphold its mission and values.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Patient Care Assistant Must Have A Basic Education Level To Understand And Follow Medical Instructions, Communicate Effectively, And Perform Basic Math Calculations.
Certified Nursing Assistant (Cna) Or Medical Assistant (Ma) Certification: A Patient Care Assistant Should Have Completed A State-Approved Training Program And Obtained Certification To Ensure They Have The Necessary Knowledge And Skills To Provide Patient Care.
Prior Experience In A Healthcare Setting: While Not Always Required, Prior Experience Working In A Healthcare Setting, Particularly In An Emergency Department, Can Demonstrate An Understanding Of Medical Terminology, Procedures, And Protocols, And Can Help The Candidate Adapt Quickly To The Fast-Paced Environment Of The Emergency Department.
Basic Life Support (Bls) Certification: The Emergency Department At Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Requires All Staff To Have A Current Bls Certification. This Certification Ensures The Candidate Is Equipped To Handle Emergency Situations And Provide Cpr If Needed.
Ability To Work Night Shifts And Rotating Schedules: The Emergency Department At Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Operates 24/7, And As Such, The Patient Care Assistant Must Be Able To Work Night Shifts And Rotating Schedules, Including Weekends And Holidays. This Requires A High Level Of Flexibility And Reliability From The Candidate.
