- Dispense medications accurately and efficiently to inpatients under the direction of a pharmacist
- Maintain and update patient medication records in accordance with hospital policies and procedures
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely delivery of medications and resolve any discrepancies or issues
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations to ensure safe handling and storage of medications
- Utilize technology and computer systems to facilitate prescription processing and inventory management
- Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and healthcare team members to provide exceptional customer service and address any medication-related concerns
- Participate in ongoing training and education to stay up-to-date on current pharmacy practices and regulations
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote efficiency and accuracy in medication dispensing
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by identifying and reporting any potential medication errors or system issues
- Adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including those related to confidentiality and privacy.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Minimum Education Requirement For An Inpatient Pharmacy Technician At Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Is A High School Diploma Or Equivalent. This Demonstrates Basic Educational Proficiency And Sets A Foundation For Further Training And Development.
Certified Pharmacy Technician (Cpht) Certification: Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Requires All Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians To Hold A Cpht Certification From The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb). This Certification Ensures That The Candidate Has Met National Standards For Knowledge And Skills In Pharmacy Practice.
Previous Experience In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting: While Not Always Required, Wentworth-Douglass Hospital May Prefer Candidates With Previous Experience In A Hospital Or Healthcare Setting. This Demonstrates A Familiarity With Hospital Policies And Procedures, As Well As The Ability To Work In A Fast-Paced, High-Pressure Environment.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians At Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Must Have Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills In Order To Effectively Interact With Patients, Healthcare Professionals, And Other Pharmacy Staff. This Includes Being Able To Communicate Complex Medication Information In A Clear And Understandable Manner.
Attention To Detail And Accuracy: Inpatient Pharmacy Technicians Must Be Detail-Oriented And Have A High Level Of Accuracy In Order To Properly Prepare And Dispense Medications. A Small Error In Dosage Or Labeling Could Have Serious Consequences For A Patient's Health, Making Attention To Detail A Crucial Qualification For This Role.
