We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Genetic Counselor to join our team in the Obstetrics Department.As a Genetic Counselor at Wentworth-Douglass, you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with expectant parents and their families to assess their risk for genetic disorders and provide them with comprehensive counseling and support.   1. Conduct genetic counseling sessions with expectant parents and their families to assess their risk for genetic disorders and provide them with emotional support and education.
  2. Utilize knowledge of genetics to interpret and explain complex medical information to patients and their families in a clear and compassionate manner.
  3. Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans for patients based on their genetic risk factors.
  4. Assist in the coordination of genetic testing and interpreting results to provide patients and their families with accurate and timely information.
  5. Stay up-to-date on advancements in the field of genetics and incorporate new information into counseling sessions and patient care plans.
  6. Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient interactions and counseling sessions in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
  7. Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to patients and their families.
  8. Develop and maintain relationships with community resources and organizations to provide patients and families with additional support and resources.
  9. Serve as an advocate for patients and their families, ensuring that their needs and concerns are addressed and their rights are protected.
  10. Participate in departmental meetings and trainings to stay informed about hospital policies, procedures, and best practices related to genetic counseling.

Job Qualifications
  • Master's Degree In Genetic Counseling From An Accredited Program.

  • Board Certification As A Genetic Counselor From The American Board Of Genetic Counseling.

  • Minimum Of 2 Years Of Experience In Genetic Counseling, Preferably In An Ob Setting.

  • Strong Knowledge Of Prenatal And Reproductive Genetics, Including Counseling For High-Risk Pregnancies And Genetic Testing Options.

  • Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Provide Compassionate And Sensitive Counseling To Patients And Their Families.
