
Diet Technician, Part-time

- Conduct nutritional assessments and develop individualized meal plans for patients based on their medical conditions and dietary needs.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure patients receive appropriate nutrition education and support to improve their health outcomes.
- Monitor patients' food intake and make necessary adjustments to their meal plans as needed.
- Educate patients on healthy eating habits and provide guidance on making appropriate food choices.
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of nutrition-related programs and initiatives within the hospital.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient nutritional information and progress.
- Communicate and collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and dietitians, to ensure coordinated care for patients.
- Assist with the development of menus and meal plans for patients with specialized dietary needs or restrictions.
- Conduct meal rounds and provide support and assistance to patients with feeding difficulties.
- Stay current with the latest nutrition research and trends to provide evidence-based recommendations for patient care.
- Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, in regards to food safety and sanitation.
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude while working with patients, their families, and hospital staff.
- Participate in departmental meetings and trainings to enhance knowledge and skills related to nutrition and patient care.
- Handle and resolve any patient or family concerns or complaints related to food and nutrition.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve and enhance the quality of nutrition services provided by the hospital.
Bachelor's Degree In Nutrition Or Dietetics: A Candidate For This Position Should Possess A Bachelor's Degree In Nutrition Or Dietetics From An Accredited Institution. This Degree Will Provide The Necessary Academic Background And Knowledge In Food And Nutrition To Perform The Duties Of A Diet Technician.
Certification As A Diet Technician, Registered (Dtr): The Candidate Should Hold A Valid Certification As A Diet Technician, Registered (Dtr) From The Commission On Dietetic Registration (Cdr). This Certification Demonstrates A High Level Of Knowledge And Competency In The Field Of Nutrition And Dietetics.
Experience In A Healthcare Setting: Previous Experience In A Healthcare Setting, Such As A Hospital, Clinic, Or Long-Term Care Facility, Is Highly Preferred For This Position. This Experience Will Provide The Candidate With A Good Understanding Of The Role Of A Diet Technician In A Healthcare Setting.
Knowledge Of Medical Terminology: A Good Understanding Of Medical Terminology Is Essential For A Diet Technician. This Knowledge Will Allow The Candidate To Effectively Communicate With Other Healthcare Professionals And Accurately Interpret Medical Records And Diet Orders.
Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills: As A Diet Technician, The Candidate Will Be Interacting With Patients, Healthcare Professionals, And Other Staff Members On A Daily Basis. Therefore, Strong Communication And Interpersonal Skills Are Crucial For This Role. The Candidate Should Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Individuals From Diverse Backgrounds And Be Empathetic And Compassionate Towards Patients.
