  1. Assist pharmacists in providing specialized medication therapy to cancer patients.
  2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records for all oncology patients.
  3. Prepare and dispense medications according to established protocols and procedures.
  4. Monitor and manage medication inventory, ensuring adequate supply for patient needs.
  5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for oncology patients.
  6. Follow all safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  7. Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  8. Educate patients and their caregivers on proper medication use and potential side effects.
  9. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
  10. Continuously update knowledge and skills through training and education opportunities.
  11. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
  12. Maintain a high level of professionalism and compassion towards patients and their families.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacy manager or supervising pharmacist.

Job Qualifications
  • Certification: The Ideal Candidate For A Certified - Oncology Pharmacy Technician Position At Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Should Hold A Valid Certification From A Recognized Pharmacy Technician Certification Program, Such As The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha).

  • Oncology Experience: The Candidate Must Have A Minimum Of 1-2 Years Of Experience In An Oncology Pharmacy Setting. This Experience Should Include Compounding, Dispensing And Inventory Management Of Chemotherapy Drugs, As Well As Knowledge Of Usp 797 And 800 Guidelines.

  • Knowledge Of Oncology Medications: A Strong Understanding Of Oncology Medications, Their Uses, Side Effects, And Interactions Is Essential For This Role. The Candidate Should Also Have Experience With Handling Hazardous And Sterile Medications.

  • Attention To Detail: As A Certified - Oncology Pharmacy Technician, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Preparing And Dispensing Medications For Cancer Patients. They Must Have Excellent Attention To Detail To Ensure The Accuracy Of Medication Dosages, Labeling, And Record-Keeping.

  • Communication Skills: Effective Communication Is Crucial In An Oncology Pharmacy Setting. The Candidate Should Have Excellent Communication Skills To Interact With Pharmacists, Nurses, And Other Healthcare Professionals To Ensure The Safe And Efficient Delivery Of Medications To Patients.
