
Heavy Equipment Operator, I - Landfill

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will play a crucial role in the safe and efficient operation of our landfill site. - Operate heavy equipment such as bulldozers, excavators, and front-end loaders to manage the daily operations of our landfill site.
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment by conducting pre-shift inspections, following safety protocols, and promptly reporting any issues.
- Work closely with landfill supervisors and other team members to coordinate and prioritize tasks and ensure a smooth flow of operations.
- Responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment as needed, including performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting any malfunctions.
- Adhere to all environmental regulations and company policies to ensure compliance with waste management standards.
- Monitor and track landfill inventory levels and assist with the planning and execution of waste disposal activities.
- Responsible for accurately documenting all equipment usage, maintenance, and repairs.
- Train and mentor new equipment operators on proper operating procedures and safety protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
- Continuously evaluate processes and identify areas for improvement to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Participate in safety meetings and complete all required safety training to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and your team.
- Act as a brand ambassador for Waste Management, promoting our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
- Handle any other duties or tasks as assigned by the Landfill Manager or other superiors.
Valid Commercial Driver's License (Cdl): A Heavy Equipment Operator At Waste Management Must Have A Valid Cdl To Operate Large Vehicles And Transport Equipment To And From The Landfill Site.
Experience With Heavy Equipment: The Ideal Candidate Should Have At Least 2-3 Years Of Experience Operating Heavy Equipment Such As Bulldozers, Excavators, And Compactors. This Experience Should Include Operating These Machines In A Landfill Or Construction Setting.
Safety Training And Certifications: Waste Management Places A High Priority On Safety, And Therefore, The Candidate Should Have Completed Osha Safety Training And Hold Relevant Certifications Such As Hazardous Waste Operations And Emergency Response (Hazwoper).
Physical Fitness And Strength: The Job Of A Heavy Equipment Operator At Waste Management Requires Physical Stamina And The Ability To Lift And Move Heavy Objects. The Candidate Should Be Physically Fit And Able To Work In All Weather Conditions.
Detail-Oriented And Organized: Landfill Operations Involve Managing And Sorting Large Amounts Of Waste, So The Ideal Candidate Should Be Detail-Oriented And Able To Work In A Fast-Paced Environment. They Should Also Be Able To Maintain Accurate Records And Complete Paperwork As Required.
