  1. Perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of diesel engines and equipment.
  2. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using industry standard tools and techniques.
  3. Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation of vehicles and equipment.
  4. Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed.
  5. Communicate with team members and supervisors to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  6. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working with heavy machinery and hazardous materials.
  7. Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
  8. Keep up-to-date with industry advancements and changes in technology to continuously improve skills and knowledge.
  9. Utilize problem-solving skills to identify and implement solutions for mechanical issues.

Job Qualifications
  • Relevant Education And Training: A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Typically Required For This Role, Along With A Technical Certification Or Degree In Diesel Mechanics. Additional Training In Heavy Equipment Maintenance And Repair May Also Be Preferred.

  • Work Experience: A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Diesel Engine Repair And Maintenance Is Typically Required For This Position. Previous Experience Working With Waste Management Vehicles And Equipment Is A Plus.

  • Strong Diagnostic And Troubleshooting Skills: The Ability To Diagnose And Troubleshoot Mechanical Issues Is A Critical Skill For A Diesel Mechanic. This Includes Using Diagnostic Tools And Equipment To Identify Problems And Determine The Appropriate Repairs.

  • Physical Fitness And Dexterity: This Job May Involve Heavy Lifting, Bending, And Working In Tight Spaces, So A Certain Level Of Physical Fitness And Dexterity Is Necessary. The Ability To Work In All Weather Conditions Is Also Important.

  • Safety Awareness: Working With Heavy Equipment And Machinery Can Be Dangerous, So A Strong Understanding Of Safety Protocols And Procedures Is Essential. A Diesel Mechanic Should Also Be Familiar With Osha Regulations And Be Able To Follow Safety Guidelines To Prevent Accidents And Injuries.
