- Perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of diesel engines and equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using industry standard tools and techniques.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation of vehicles and equipment.
- Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performed.
- Communicate with team members and supervisors to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations while working with heavy machinery and hazardous materials.

Relevant Education And Training: A High School Diploma Or Equivalent Is Typically Required For This Role, Along With A Technical Certification Or Degree In Diesel Mechanics. Additional Training In Heavy Equipment Maintenance And Repair May Also Be Preferred.
Work Experience: A Minimum Of 2-3 Years Of Experience In Diesel Engine Repair And Maintenance Is Typically Required For This Position. Previous Experience Working With Waste Management Vehicles And Equipment Is A Plus.
Strong Diagnostic And Troubleshooting Skills: The Ability To Diagnose And Troubleshoot Mechanical Issues Is A Critical Skill For A Diesel Mechanic. This Includes Using Diagnostic Tools And Equipment To Identify Problems And Determine The Appropriate Repairs.
Physical Fitness And Dexterity: This Job May Involve Heavy Lifting, Bending, And Working In Tight Spaces, So A Certain Level Of Physical Fitness And Dexterity Is Necessary. The Ability To Work In All Weather Conditions Is Also Important.
Safety Awareness: Working With Heavy Equipment And Machinery Can Be Dangerous, So A Strong Understanding Of Safety Protocols And Procedures Is Essential. A Diesel Mechanic Should Also Be Familiar With Osha Regulations And Be Able To Follow Safety Guidelines To Prevent Accidents And Injuries.
