Job Description

Are you a skilled leader with a passion for keeping things running smoothly? Do you have experience in fleet maintenance and a strong mechanical background? Waste Management is seeking a 2nd Shift Fleet Maintenance Supervisor to join our team and ensure the safe and efficient operation of our fleet. As a supervisor, you will oversee a team of mechanics and technicians, ensuring that all vehicles are properly maintained and repaired to meet company standards.   1. Oversee and manage a team of mechanics and technicians to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the fleet.
  2. Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to keep the fleet in top operating condition.
  3. Monitor and track fleet maintenance costs and make recommendations for cost-saving measures.
  4. Train and mentor team members on proper maintenance and repair techniques and procedures.
  5. Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to identify any issues or potential problems.
  6. Communicate with other departments and operational teams to coordinate maintenance and repair schedules.
  7. Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed on the fleet.
  8. Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  9. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the fleet maintenance shop and inventory areas.
  10. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in fleet maintenance technology to continuously improve processes and procedures.
  11. Address and resolve any employee performance issues in a timely and professional manner.
  12. Collaborate with other supervisors and managers to promote a positive and productive work environment.
  13. Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to environmental, health, and safety.
  14. Lead by example, exhibiting strong leadership skills and promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and excellence.
  15. Participate in regular team meetings and provide updates on fleet maintenance operations and any issues or concerns.
  16. Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and training of new team members as needed.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned by the management team.

Job Qualifications
  • Experience In Fleet Maintenance: A Qualified Candidate Should Have At Least 5 Years Of Experience In Managing And Maintaining A Fleet Of Vehicles, Preferably In The Waste Management Industry.

  • Leadership Skills: The 2Nd Shift Fleet Maintenance Supervisor Will Be Responsible For Leading A Team Of Mechanics And Technicians. Therefore, Strong Leadership Skills And The Ability To Effectively Manage And Motivate A Team Are Essential Qualifications.

  • Knowledge Of Safety Regulations: Waste Management Vehicles And Equipment Pose Potential Hazards, And It Is Crucial For The Supervisor To Have A Thorough Understanding Of Safety Regulations And Procedures To Ensure A Safe Working Environment For The Team.

  • Mechanical Knowledge: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Mechanical Background And Be Knowledgeable About The Maintenance And Repair Of Various Vehicles And Equipment, Including Diesel Engines, Hydraulic Systems, And Heavy-Duty Trucks.

  • Organizational And Problem-Solving Skills: The 2Nd Shift Fleet Maintenance Supervisor Will Be Responsible For Overseeing The Maintenance Schedules, Inventory Management, And Troubleshooting Any Mechanical Issues That Arise. Therefore, Strong Organizational And Problem-Solving Skills Are Critical Qualifications For This Role.
