Look no further, because WarnerMedia is searching for a talented News Editor to join our National Assignment Desk. In this role, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of national news coverage across all of our platforms. We are seeking a highly organized and driven individual with a strong editorial background and a deep understanding of the news landscape.   1. Lead and manage a team of journalists to ensure accurate, timely, and comprehensive coverage of national news events across all platforms.
  2. Develop and maintain relationships with key sources and news organizations to stay informed on developing stories and breaking news.
  3. Collaborate with other news editors and producers to develop and execute coverage plans that align with the company's editorial standards and values.
  4. Monitor and assess news trends and identify potential story angles to ensure a diverse and engaging news lineup.
  5. Edit and fact-check news stories for accuracy, style, and tone, ensuring that all content meets the company's standards and policies.
  6. Work closely with the newsroom's leadership team to develop and implement strategies for improving the quality and reach of national news coverage.
  7. Manage the assignment desk budget, including allocating resources and approving expenses.
  8. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve and innovate the company's news coverage.
  9. Train and mentor team members to foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  10. Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in all news coverage.
  11. Prepare and present regular reports on the performance of the national assignment desk, including audience reach, engagement, and feedback.
  12. Represent the company at industry events and conferences, building relationships with other media professionals and staying informed on emerging trends and technologies.

Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Or Master's Degree In Journalism, Communications, Or A Related Field

  • Minimum Of 5 Years Of Experience In A Newsroom Setting, With At Least 2 Years In A Leadership Or Editorial Role

  • Strong Understanding Of National And International News, As Well As Current Events And Political Landscape

  • Excellent Writing, Editing, And Storytelling Skills, With A Keen Eye For Accuracy And Detail

  • Ability To Work Under Pressure And Handle Multiple Assignments Simultaneously, While Meeting Tight Deadlines And Maintaining High Editorial Standards
