- Develop and execute a creative vision for the drama department, in line with the overall company goals and objectives.
- Identify and source potential drama projects, both from within the company and externally, that align with the company's brand and target audience.
- Lead a team of development executives, providing guidance and direction to ensure the timely and successful development of projects.
- Collaborate with various departments, including production, marketing, and distribution, to ensure projects are executed efficiently and effectively.
- Conduct thorough analysis and research of the television landscape to stay current with industry trends and identify potential opportunities for the company.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with writers, producers, and other industry professionals to source and secure top talent for projects.
- Oversee the development process, from initial pitch to script development, and provide creative feedback and guidance along the way.
- Work closely with network and streaming executives to pitch and sell developed projects, ensuring they align with the company's creative and financial objectives.
- Monitor and track project progress, providing updates and recommendations to senior management as needed.
- Continuously evaluate and assess the success and potential of current and past projects, making adjustments and improvements as necessary.
Extensive Experience In Television Production: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Minimum Of 8-10 Years Of Experience In Television Production, Preferably In The Drama Genre. This Experience Should Include A Strong Track Record Of Developing Successful Drama Series For A Major Network Or Streaming Service.
Strong Creative Vision: The Director Of Drama Development Should Possess A Strong Creative Vision And The Ability To Identify And Develop Compelling Story Ideas And Concepts. This Includes A Deep Understanding Of Current Trends And Audience Preferences In The Drama Genre.
Excellent Communication And Negotiation Skills: As A Key Member Of The Development Team, The Director Must Have Excellent Communication And Negotiation Skills. This Includes The Ability To Pitch Projects Effectively To Executives, Collaborate With Writers And Producers, And Negotiate Deals With Talent And Production Companies.
