- Assist customers with their medication needs and provide excellent customer service.
- Accurately and efficiently fill prescriptions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all medications are properly stored and labeled.
- Follow all safety and security procedures in handling and dispensing medications.
- Communicate effectively with customers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Keep up-to-date with new medications and their uses, as well as changes in pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Handle insurance claims and billing for medications.
- Assist in managing inventory and ordering medications as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Provide education and counseling to customers on medication usage, side effects, and precautions.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues or concerns.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and excellent customer service.
- Complete all required training and certifications to maintain Pharmacy Technician certification.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager or supervising pharmacist.
High School Diploma Or Equivalent: A Pharmacy Technician Must Have A Minimum Of A High School Diploma Or Equivalent In Order To Be Eligible For The Job. This Ensures That They Have Basic Educational Qualifications And Can Handle Tasks That Require Basic Math And Communication Skills.
Pharmacy Technician Certification: A Certification From A Recognized Organization, Such As The Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (Ptcb) Or The National Healthcareer Association (Nha), Is Required For This Role. This Demonstrates That The Candidate Has Been Trained And Tested On Their Knowledge And Skills As A Pharmacy Technician.
Knowledge Of Pharmacy Operations: A Pharmacy Technician At Walmart Should Have A Thorough Understanding Of Pharmacy Operations, Including Knowledge Of Medication Dispensing, Storage, And Inventory Management. They Should Also Have A Good Understanding Of Different Types Of Medications And Their Uses.
Customer Service Skills: Since Pharmacy Technicians Often Interact With Customers, It Is Important For Them To Have Excellent Customer Service Skills. They Should Be Friendly, Approachable, And Able To Communicate Effectively With Customers Of All Ages And Backgrounds.
Attention To Detail: As A Pharmacy Technician, Attention To Detail Is Crucial. They Will Be Responsible For Accurately Filling Prescriptions, Counting Medication, And Labeling Packages. Any Errors In These Tasks Could Have Serious Consequences For The Patient, Making Attention To Detail A Key Qualification For This Job.
