Welcome to Volvo Group! We are a global leader in sustainable transport solutions and are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Head of Customs & Trade India. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and executing the customs and trade strategy for our operations in India. We are looking for someone with a strong understanding of customs and trade regulations, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.   1. Develop and execute customs and trade strategy for Volvo Group's operations in India.
  2. Stay up-to-date with customs and trade regulations and ensure compliance across all operations.
  3. Lead and manage a team of customs and trade professionals to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  5. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, customs brokers, and trade associations.
  6. Monitor and analyze trade data to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  7. Communicate customs and trade related updates and changes to relevant departments and stakeholders.
  8. Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the Volvo Group's products and operations to ensure accurate classification and valuation of goods.
  9. Manage relationships with external service providers to ensure timely and accurate submission of customs documentation.
  10. Provide guidance and support to internal teams on customs and trade related matters.
  11. Proactively identify and address potential customs and trade compliance issues.
  12. Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the customs and trade function.
  13. Manage any customs and trade related audits and ensure compliance with audit findings.
  14. Develop and manage budgets related to customs and trade operations.
  15. Act as a subject matter expert on customs and trade matters and provide guidance to other departments as needed.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Knowledge And Experience In Indian Customs And Trade Laws: The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Strong Understanding Of The Constantly Evolving Laws And Regulations Related To Customs And Trade In India. This Includes Import And Export Regulations, Duty Rates, Tariffs, And Other Compliance Requirements.

  • Proven Leadership Skills: As Head Of Customs & Trade For India, The Candidate Will Be Responsible For Managing A Team Of Customs And Trade Professionals. Therefore, They Should Have Excellent Leadership Skills, Including The Ability To Motivate, Coach, And Develop Team Members To Achieve Common Goals.

  • Strategic Thinking And Problem-Solving Abilities: The Candidate Should Have The Ability To Think Strategically And Anticipate Potential Issues Related To Customs And Trade In India. They Should Also Possess Strong Problem-Solving Skills And Be Able To Find Innovative Solutions To Complex Issues.

  • Strong Communication And Negotiation Skills: The Head Of Customs & Trade Will Be Required To Interact With Various Stakeholders, Including Government Agencies, Suppliers, And Internal Teams. Therefore, Excellent Communication And Negotiation Skills Are Essential To Build And Maintain Strong Relationships And Ensure Smooth Operations.

  • Experience In A Similar Role: The Ideal Candidate Should Have Previous Experience In A Similar Role, Preferably In The Automotive Industry. They Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing Customs And Trade Operations In India, Including Handling Customs Audits And Implementing Compliance Programs.
