  1. Develop and drive the strategic direction of our observability platform, in alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
  2. Lead and manage a team of engineers to design, develop and maintain high-performance observability tools and solutions.
  3. Build and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
  4. Identify and implement best practices and processes for efficient and effective development and delivery of observability solutions.
  5. Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and ensure that the observability platform meets their needs.
  6. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in observability platforms, and apply that knowledge to enhance our platform.
  7. Ensure the observability platform meets the highest standards of reliability, scalability, and performance.
  8. Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate the observability platform with other systems and applications.
  9. Manage and prioritize the team's workload, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of projects.
  10. Mentor and provide guidance to team members, promoting their growth and development.
  11. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior management, to provide updates on the observability platform's progress and impact.
  12. Proactively identify and address any technical issues or roadblocks that may arise during the development and maintenance of the observability platform.
  13. Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards for software development.
  14. Continuously monitor and analyze the performance of the observability platform, and take necessary actions to improve its effectiveness.
  15. Represent Visa and the observability platform at industry events and conferences, showcasing our innovation and thought leadership in the field.

Job Qualifications
  • Extensive Experience In Platform Engineering And Observability Tools: The Senior Director Should Have At Least 10 Years Of Experience In Platform Engineering, With A Deep Understanding Of Observability Tools Such As Splunk, Datadog, And Prometheus.

  • Strong Leadership And Management Skills: This Role Will Involve Leading A Team Of Engineers, So The Ideal Candidate Should Have A Proven Track Record Of Successfully Managing And Mentoring Technical Teams.

  • In-Depth Knowledge Of Cloud Technologies: The Senior Director Should Have A Strong Understanding Of Cloud Platforms Such As Aws, Azure, And Google Cloud, And Be Able To Design And Implement Observability Solutions In These Environments.

  • Excellent Communication And Collaboration Skills: As A Senior Leader, The Candidate Must Be Able To Effectively Communicate With Cross-Functional Teams And Stakeholders, And Collaborate With Them To Drive The Success Of The Observability Platform.

  • Strategic Thinking And Problem-Solving Abilities: The Senior Director Should Have A Strategic Mindset And Be Able To Identify Potential Challenges And Opportunities For The Observability Platform. They Should Also Possess Strong Problem-Solving Skills To Effectively Address Any Issues That May Arise.
