- Conducting research: Conduct experiments and studies under the direction of the principal investigator or faculty member.
- Data collection and analysis: Record, organize, and analyze data, and prepare reports and presentations on research findings.
- Lab maintenance: Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, and ensure a safe and organized work environment.
- Literature review: Stay up-to-date on current research in the field and contribute to literature reviews.
- Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, graduate students, and other research technicians to support ongoing research projects.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot issues that may arise during experiments or data collection.
- Protocol development: Assist in the development and refinement of research protocols.
- Administrative tasks: Complete administrative tasks such as ordering supplies, scheduling meetings, and maintaining records.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and institutional policies.
- Training and mentoring: Train and mentor new research team members, such as undergraduate students.
- Communication: Communicate research progress and findings to the principal investigator and other team members.
- Professional development: Attend conferences and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge in the field.
- Flexibility: Be open to working on multiple projects and adapting to changing research priorities.
- Time management: Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and prioritize tasks accordingly.
- Representing the university: Serve as a representative of Vanderbilt University and maintain professional and ethical standards at all times.
Strong Organizational And Time Management Skills, With The Ability To Handle Multiple Tasks And Prioritize Effectively.
Bachelor's Degree In A Relevant Field Such As Biology, Chemistry, Or Neuroscience.
Experience In Conducting Scientific Research, Including Knowledge Of Research Methods And Techniques.
Familiarity With Laboratory Equipment And Instrumentation, As Well As The Ability To Troubleshoot Technical Issues.
Excellent Communication And Interpersonal Skills, With The Ability To Work Collaboratively With A Team Of Researchers.
